PADI Rescue Diver Course

“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you’ve already learned, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.

The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.

Course Materials You Need

The PADI Rescue Diver crewpak includes all materials required to complete the PADI Rescue Diver course – including a pocket mask. You’ll learn how to think like a rescue diver and preview skills you’ll practice with your PADI Instructor. Once your Rescue Diver course is complete, you can review the DVD to refresh your dive safety skills as needed. This tool box of knowledge and technique will give you the expertise to handle almost any emergency situation.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must

  • Be 12 years or older (12 to 14 year olds will earn Junior Rescue Diver Certification
  • Have a PADI Adventure Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Proof of 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep diving and underwater navigation.
  • Be trained and current for first aid and CPR within the previous two years.
3 Classroom Sessions
Your instructor will review and collect each of the five Knowledge Review questions, provide you with some hints, tips and suggestions that will increase your water experience and discuss what you will need for the course.

Pool

Your pool training will include 10 rescue training exercises and a few practice scenarios.  These exercises will allow you to apply and practice a variety of techniques, while developing your skills and self-confidence.

Open Water Dives
Here you will perform the 10 exercises you learned in the pool and apply them during two realistic emergency scenarios.

Important Note

For safety, all PADI students must complete a brief medical prior to commencing a course. If none of the listed conditions apply, you sign the form and you’re ready to start. If any of them apply to you, as a safety precaution, a physician must assess the condition as it relates to diving and sign a medical form that confirms that you’re fit to dive, dated within the last 12 months.
