Fitness To Dive
SCUBA diving is a safe sport enjoyed by millions. Scuba requires that the diver be healthy and be able to respond to problems underwater.
Some conditions require that the diver should not dive under any circumstance. These may be temporary as some conditions will change. An individual who was previously cleared to dive may acquire a condition that would disqualify them from diving. It is every divers responsibility to disclose any conditions that may make him or her endangered, as well as anyone attempting to rescue them.
Individuals respond differently to the same disease, and not all divers may have the same physical capabilities, therefore the information listed here is for your reference and you should contact your physician if you have questions.
How Can I Lower My Risk of Medical Problems?
Any illness or medication should be cleared with a dive physician or by checking with Divers Alert Network (DAN).
NEVER try a dive you're not comfortable with.
NEVER hold your breath while ascending.
NEVER panic underwater.
ALWAYS follow your dive profile and do safety stops
