The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the coolest method of transportation you will ever experience. Just descend and let nature do the rest. Relax and enjoy tides, ocean currents and even rivers by “going with the flow,” staying with your dive buddy, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time.
Drift Diving is nearly effortless and relaxing. You simply glide along and enjoy the rush of flying underwater while the current does the work. It's as close to flying as you are going to get without an airplane.
Prerequisites
How do I get started?
As with all of the diving education
programs at Colorado Diver Training you start with the training materials. A
deposit of $50 is required to sign up for the PADI Drift Diver Specialty. We
will provide you with the PADI Drift Diver manual for you to read prior
to the start of your training.
What will I do?
During your training you will practice the following:
You will learn not only the techniques used to take full advantage of Mother Nature herself, but also how to do it safely and maximizing the fun.
You will put into practice what you learn in a combination of skills in two open water training dives.
How long will it take?
What will I need?
The PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent is the prerequisite.
You should have all of your personal scuba equipment. Tanks and weights will be provided for your dives. It
is recommended that you purchase your own reel and surface marker buoy
(SMB) for this course.
You will need to fill out a medical statement. If you have any medical conditions you think may prevent you from scuba diving please feel free to contact us and we will try to be of assistance.
A $50 deposit is required when you schedule your course. The balance is due the day of the course.
Where can I go from here?
As most drift dives take place from a boat,
maybe the PADI Boat Diver Specialty should be on your to do list.
Once you have completed five PADI specialties and your PADI Rescue Diver
and have 50 logged dives you hold all the prerequisites for the PADI
Master Scuba Diver certification.
This is the highest non-professional rating in the PADI system of diver education.
